Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and RI State Licensure is required.
• Experience must include three years in a related field; one year in critical care preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to implement goal-directed care for a defined group of patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and report any changes to supervisors and physicians.
• Assess healthcare status based on examinations, reports, records, and consultations.
• Identify priorities and provide immediate intervention on admission based on intraoperative information.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, discharge planning and follow-up.
• Perform nursing skills per physician orders and hospital policies.
• Communicate with physicians and other departments to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain medical records accurately and legibly, documenting all care provided.
• Respond to emergencies including cardiopulmonary arrest, fire, or disaster.
• Assist in orientation of new employees and may assume charge nurse duties as needed.
• Pursue professional development through seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and report issues to Nurse Manager.
