Wood PLC in Houston seeks an experienced boiler and tank assembler to follow specifications, assemble and repair boilers, tanks, and related vessels using power tools and rigging equipment.

You will align components, weld or bolt sections, inspect for leaks, and perform routine maintenance while adhering to safety rules. This role requires precision, geometry understanding, and the ability to work at heights in a field setting with global project teams.

Responsibilities

• Locate reference points for columns or plates on foundation using straight edge, squares, transit and tape.
• Attach rigging or signals crane operator to lift components to position.
• Align structures or plates to boiler frames, tanks or vats using plumb bobs and levels.
• Hammer, flame-cut, file, and grind edges for fitting.
• Bolt or arc-weld structures and sections; position drums and headers into supports or weld to frame.
• Align water tubes and connect ends to drums and headers using tube expander.
• Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks and other fabricated parts to frame.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning with tools and equipment.
• Install manholes, handholds, valves, gauges and feed water connections in drums.
• Signal crane operator during lifting.
• Assist in testing vessels by pumping water or gas and checking for leaks.
• Repair boilers or tanks in the field by replacing sections and old tubes.
• Caulk sections with pneumatic tools and caulking hammers.
• Line firebox with refractory brick and blocks.
• Fabricate parts to adapt boiler to premises.
• Flame cutting and torch use.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
