Job summary

WOOD is seeking a skilled tradesperson to assemble and repair boilers, tanks, and related equipment on site in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will use power tools, rigging, and hand tools to align and join sections, install components, and ensure pressure vessels meet specifications.

Responsibilities include marking foundations, guiding crane operations, cutting and finishing edges, and performing tests for leaks under pressure while observing safety rules.

Qualifications

• Requires precision in measurements and adherence to exact standards.
• Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
• Plan work and select proper tools for each task.
• Visualize structures in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Comfort working at heights is required.

Responsibilities

• Locate reference points for foundation columns or plates using straight edge, squares, transit, and tape measure.
• Attach rigging or signal crane operators to lift components to position.
• Align structures or plates to frame, tanks or vessels using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs or turnbuckles.
• Perform cutting, grinding and edge finishing to fit components.
• Bolt or weld sections together; position drums and headers in supports.
• Align water tubes and connect ends to drums using a tube expander.
• Bolt or weld casing sections and fabrications to the frame; install vessels and accessories.
• Maintain safety procedures and assist in testing assembled vessels.
