Qualifications

• 3–5 years journeyman level experience.
• Experience with boiler construction, maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read blueprints and use hand/power tools.
• Welding of pressure vessels and use of related equipment.
• Respect safety standards and inspect fittings for defects.

Responsibilities

• Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects for repair.
• Bolt or arc welds pressure vessel structures and parts using welding equipment.
• Inspect vessels or components to identify defects.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using appropriate tools.
• Attach rigging and coordinate cranes or hoists for moving sections.
• Weld and finish joints to ensure leakproof connections.
• Layout and mark cutting lines on heavy metal for fabrication.
• Install connections, gauges, and fittings in boiler drums.
• Handle on-site assembly and adaptation of components.
• Other duties as assigned.
