Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's South Mountain Restoration Center seeks a proactive Utility Plant Operator 2 to manage steam systems and support critical facility operations.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 or equivalent Federal Government/ Commonwealth title.
• One year of semi-skilled work in operation, maintenance, or repair of utility plant systems and related equipment.
• Equivalent combination including six months of semi-skilled work in the same area.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain steam-generating boilers to meet daily facility demand.
• Regulate pumps, compressors, fans, and related systems needed for steam production.
• Test water softness, chemical levels, and boiler conditions; adjust materials as required.
• Record plant conditions, track equipment performance, and complete daily cleaning tasks.
• Repair, install, and modify plant equipment; support emergency generator operations.
• Lead semi-skilled staff and assist with vehicle use to obtain supplies.
