Job summary

Coushatta Forest Products is seeking a Boiler Operator in Coushatta, LA to handle startup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment. The role requires the ability to work in a 24/7 environment, with fixed or rotating schedules and on-site duties at the plant.

You will track operating parameters, perform routine water testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in boiler operations.
• Knowledge of boiler operations and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience in forestry, logging, or timber environments.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform boiler startup/shutdown, product changes, in-process adjustments, and equipment maintenance.
• Operate the boiler safely and efficiently while supporting production and unit-cost goals.
• Adjust boiler and equipment controls to maintain temperatures and airflow to meet specifications.
• Maintain accurate boiler operation logs.
• Monitor bin levels and product flow for consistent operations.
• Load sawdust into the boiler.
• Operate and monitor boiler systems to ensure proper functioning.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on boilers.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and controls for optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair boiler malfunctions or breakdowns.
• Maintain records of equipment performance, maintenance, and repairs.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
• Review control charts, audits, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
• Other duties as assigned
