Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safety, reliability, and operation of power generating equipment and associated electrical switchgear, including building automation systems, low and high pressure steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment systems, pumps, valves, and distribution systems located in the central utility plant and throughout facilities
- Performs diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, refrigeration, emergency generators, utility distribution, chilled and hot water systems, fire protection and alarm systems, and other assigned equipment) to ensure continuous service
- Displays initiative and judgment in determining the extent of repairs, selecting appropriate materials, and utilizing effective methods and techniques to complete job assignments
- Installs and commissions new mechanical and electrical equipment as necessary and coordinates with Facilities leadership and contractors to sustain plant performance
- Performs minor building repairs (carpentry, painting, plastering, tiling) to support facility operations
- Keeps shops and mechanical rooms clean and organized; observes accepted procedures in the care and use of tools and equipment and complies with safety precautions and practices
- Utilizes work order systems, logs, and required documents to record work performed, dates, time, materials, equipment status, and testing results in accordance with SOPs and authorities having jurisdiction
- Serves as the point person for on-call issues, escalations, or emergencies within the facility; responds during off-duty hours, weekends, and holidays as required
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Assciates Degree in Industrial technology or a related field preferred
Experience
- 5+ years of experience operating and maintaining a boiler plant, including maintenance and/or repair, within industrial or commercial operations; familiar with plant operating techniques for systems and equipment.
License(s)/Certification(s)
- Valid Driver's license
