Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The key responsibilities include:

• Operate and monitor all equipment related to Boilers, Steam System, and Water System.
• Maintain proper water chemistry.
• Perform duties as outlined by supervisor or lead, including relieving turbine operator and fuel pusher during breaks.
• Start and stop boilers and turbines/generators safely and efficiently.
• Operate the Bailey control system and control plant operations through it.
• Operate service booster and treated water make-up pumps, valve them in and out.
• Manage controls and operation of cooling water circulation pumps, fans, and basin water levels.
• Understand electrical equipment from 13,800 volts down to 110 volts.
• Control and operate plant equipment manually and remotely.
• Monitor plant Air Quality and take corrective actions to prevent violations.
• Test and maintain proper power plant chemistry.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma.
• Minimum one year of related experience or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of the Bailey control system.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel, reach, and communicate.
• May frequently need to sit, smell, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Use of personal protective equipment such as eye and hearing protection, gloves, safety vests, shoes, fall protection, hard hats, welding protection, and respirators is required.
• The work environment is usually loud and exposed to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, weather conditions, vibration, wet/humid conditions, high places, dust, grease, and machine noise.
• Climbing approximately 100 stairs daily is required.
