Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking a Boiler Operations Engineer to support boiler operations and the maintenance program at sites in Northern California or Oregon. You will establish O&M standards, translate requirements into data rules, train personnel, and lead investigations into corrosion and system performance.

Travel up to 40% to divisions is required. Ideal candidates have Navy boiler experience or equivalent with operator certification; a BS in chemical or mechanical engineering is

Qualifications

• Navy engineer or boilerman experience with boiler operator certification.
• College coursework or experience in industrial water treatment, chemistry, thermodynamics, heat transfer, or power generation preferred.
• Knowledge of boiler-water and steam-cycle chemistry, corrosion and deposition, pretreatment and chemical-feed systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized chemistry requirements for boiler and cooling-water systems.
• Establish boiler O&M standards including sampling points, test methods, equipment, reagents, frequencies, procedures.
• Translate boiler O&M standards into governed requirements and data-validation rules.
• Support field implementation and continuous improvement.
• Administer testing quality control including training and corrective actions program.
• Train and qualify operating personnel in sampling, analytical methods, and data validation.
• Review chemistry and data to distinguish analytical error from process excursions.
• Identify adverse trends and opportunities to improve treatment, efficiency, and reliability.
• Lead or support investigations involving corrosion, deposition, and system failures; verify closures.
• Develop operating, maintenance, outage, commissioning, and capital-improvement recommendations.
