The California Department of Industrial Relations is seeking an Office Technician (Typing) to support BOI case processing and administrative tasks in multiple California offices. The role includes creating BOI cases, managing the BOI Outlook inbox, and preparing notifications when cases are opened or closed.
Responsibilities also include typing, mail/document handling, records management, and assisting with hiring processes for BOI staff.
The Office Technician (Typing) is responsible for creating BOI cases in the case management system, managing the BOI Outlook inbox, sending out both correspondence and required notifications to the appropriate parties when a case is opened and closed, typing, mail and document handling, filing, records management, document preparation and review, oral communications, record keeping, ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment. This position will provide support with the hiring process of new BOI staff. The incumbent can also provide administrative support to the Chief Investigator, Administrative Chief of BOI, and Chief Counsel.

The Office Technician works in an air-conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting. In addition, the incumbent works in a typical office setting with an interior workstation in a smoke-free environment. While performing assigned duties, the incumbent may be required to assist team members and professional staff. The incumbent may also be required, for extended periods of time, to operate a computer terminal and transcribe tapes from a transcribing machine, and to photocopy and assemble documents.
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply.
