Job summary

Hudson Automotive Group is offering an apprentice position at Toyota of North Charlotte in Huntersville, NC. The role includes hands-on training with a focus on repair orders, safety, and collaborative work with mechanics to diagnose basic vehicle systems.

The position features a wage of $15.00–$20.00 per hour, with an apprenticeship pathway funded by the company and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• ASE Certifications preferred but not required.
• Engine Repair Certification for Auto/Light Truck preferred.
• Automobile Parts Specialist Certification preferred.
• I-CAR Certificate of Advanced Training preferred.
• Advanced Vehicle Systems knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Assist in transporting vehicles from the annex lot to the shop for repairs.
• Collaborate with Mechanic on programming key fobs and modules and diagnose basic issues.
• Maintain safety and PPE as required.
• Document all work on the repair order.
• Road test vehicles when required or coordinate with test technician.
• Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervision.
• Keep shop area neat and tools organized.

What You’ll Do:

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Assist in transporting vehicles from the annex lot to the shop for repairs.
• Works closely with Mechanic from programming key fobs to modules, diagnosing communication issues, as well as basic damaged part replacements.
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials and reports any deviations to management.
• Documents all work performed on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
