Job summary

MarineMax in Town of Huntington, NY offers an entry-level Service Technician Apprentice program within our service department. Trainees work under a mentor to learn detailing, yard operations, rigging, parts and service processes, and customer service while completing coursework and OEM certifications.

Responsibilities

• Detailing-gain familiarity with products as well as understanding nuances involved in boat detailing to include exterior, interior, buff and wax as well as safety guidelines.
• Yard Team-gain understanding of functions of yard personnel to include equipment and machinery operation, proper boat movement and storing procedures as well as yard safety.
• Rigging-gain exposure to new product assembly procedures and the PDI process.
• Parts Department-exposure to all aspects of departmental operations to include over the counter and work order sales processes, parts ordering and inventory maintenance.
• Service Advisor-gain critical knowledge of customer service, work order management, timecard entry, and importance of documentation by shadowing a senior Service Advisor. Gain an understanding of warranty procedures and work order entry and begin to develop time management skills.
• Sales-gain understanding of the processes associated with the sales and delivery of new boats.
• Perform light duty technician tasks such as changing oil, general service and warranty repairs, and assist as needed with any other repairs.
• Set up and participate in boat shows and other off-site promotional events.
• Maintain a professional and clean workspace for customer viewing.
• Successfully pass OEM certification(s)
• Meet daily with the assigned Mentor Technician as well as regular meetings with the Service Manager or Fixed Operations Manager.
• Complete all required apprenticeship documentation daily.
• Follow the apprentice program outline and complete all tasks and meet all goals.
• Other tasks as assigned
