Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with after-hours on-call coverage

Contract Term: 1 Base Year + 4 Option Years

Anticipated Start: February 1, 2027

Position Overview:

RieLes Group is seeking Board Certified Interventional Radiology Physicians to provide on-site and on-call Interventional Radiology services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, New York

The selected physicians will provide high-quality Interventional Radiology services in accordance with VA requirements and applicable American College of Radiology (ACR) standards. The position involves direct patient care, IR procedures, consultation with referring clinicians, documentation, and emergency/on-call coverage.

The VA requires one IR physician on site daily, while must propose a minimum of four Board Certified / Board Eligible IR physicians as key personnel to ensure adequate scheduling and coverage

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site Interventional Radiology physician services to VA beneficiaries
  • Perform and manage a broad range of Interventional Radiology procedures
  • Evaluate patients and determine appropriate IR treatment plans
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for IR procedures
  • Communicate clinically appropriate treatment recommendations with referring clinicians
  • Provide timely interpretation, documentation, and communication of test results
  • Participate in scheduled IR clinics and procedures
  • Provide after-hours, weekend, holiday, and emergency on-call coverage
  • Be available by telephone for consultations during on-call periods
  • Respond on site when required for urgent/emergent IR services
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the VA electronic health record
  • Work within granted VA clinical privileges and scope of practice
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with VA requirements and ACR guidelines

Identifies IR procedures including angiography, balloon angioplasty/stent placement, biliary interventions, biopsies, chemoembolization, cholecystostomy, cryoablation, dialysis access interventions, drain placement, embolization, gastrostomy, IVC filters, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, line insertion, microwave/radiofrequency ablation, nephrostomy, thrombolysis, TIPS, Y-90 radioembolization, and related services

Schedule & Call Requirements
Regular IR Department Hours:
  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Minimum of one IR physician on site daily
On-Call Coverage:
  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Federal holidays
  • Emergency/urgent IR coverage

On-call physicians must be available by phone within 15 minutes and be able to report on site within 45 minutes when required

The contract schedule includes approximately:
  • 2,080 hours of on-site IR physician services
  • 250 nights of on-call/call-back coverage
  • 104 weekend days of on-call/call-back coverage
  • 11 holidays of on-call/call-back coverage
Required Qualifications:
Education & Board Certification

Physician with appropriate training in Interventional Radiology

Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)

Must be currently fulfilling applicable ABR Maintenance of Certification requirements

Continuing education requirements necessary to maintain certification must remain current

Medical License:

Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia at the time services are performed

Physicians with current licenses that have been restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked/surrendered pending action, or denied upon application are not eligible under the solicitation

Credentialing & Privileging:

Must successfully complete the VA credentialing and privileging process

Physician must possess the credentials necessary to obtain the required clinical privileges

No services may be performed until credentialing and privileging are approved by the appropriate VA authorities

Technical & Professional Requirements:

Demonstrated technical proficiency in the skills required to perform assigned IR duties

Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently

Ability to work with VA electronic health records, PACS, and voice-recognition systems

Must provide verifiable documentation of education, training, competency, certification, and licensure when requested

Physicians are expected to provide Interventional Radiology care meeting or exceeding applicable national standards, including American College of Radiology guidelines, Joint Commission standards, American Hospital Association standards, and the requirements of the VA Performance Work Statement

  • Demonstrates strong communication and clinical judgment
  • Is comfortable working in a VA medical center environment
Contract Details:

The requirement as 1.0 VA FTE and requires the contractor to provide at least four qualified IR physicians as key personnel to support coverage and scheduling
