Job summary

UI Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Staff Nurse I for the 8W Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. This 0.9 FTE (36 hours weekly) position is 90% part-time with rotating evenings and nights, three 12-hour shifts per week. The role requires DL licenses and strong oncology nursing qualifications.

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Staff Nurse I role emphasizes shared leadership, evidence-based practice, and patient advocacy within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Illinois.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficient in electronic health records.
• New graduates must have completed RN program and passed NCLEX.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and update patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and family input.
• Collaborate with health care team to promote effective patient care.
• Verify and implement orders from physicians and document in EMR.
• Engage patients and families to develop education plans.
• Recognize symptoms, set priorities, and respond to changing needs.
• Delegate tasks per Illinois Nurse Practice Act and support staff.
• Advocate for patients, families, and nursing profession.
• Integrate knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
• Act as Charge Nurse when assigned and utilize resources.
• Mentor staff and students; promote positive learning experiences.
• Pursue professional growth and development.
• Perform other duties and participate in special projects.
