Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Test Equipment Design Engineer, BMS Hardware to lead the development of UL 991 compliant test infrastructure. You will collaborate with the TPM to architect electrical and mechanical systems for high-channel-count BMS testing and certification readiness.

The role requires hands-on experience with electromechanical design, CAD, and electro-safety standards, offering a competitive pay rate and benefits.

Qualifications

Experience designing custom electromechanical test equipment and automated test beds.
Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering.
Proficiency with schematic capture and 3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, and lay out industrial control panels, power distribution systems, and safety interlock circuits for high-channel-count BMS testing.
Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs for test racks, integrating PLCs, DAQ units, power supplies, and load banks.
Design safety features including E-stop circuits, thermal cutoffs, and isolation monitoring for safe automated testing.
Use 3D CAD to design fixtures, enclosures, and interface blocks for environmental chambers with BMS PCBAs.
Design and specify low-voltage signaling and high-current power wire harnesses with shielding and thermal considerations.
Rapidly design and deploy specialized test beds to meet UL 991 compliance requirements.
Maximize design reuse by adapting core testbed architecture into broader BMS reliability testing platform.
