Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with BMS/BAS or related field.
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and control systems.
• Experience troubleshooting building automation sensors, actuators, controllers, wiring, and networks.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks protocols.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, retrofit, and service building automation systems for commercial customers.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across sensors, actuators, controllers, and networking.
• Interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and system documentation.
• Collaborate with technicians, project managers, and other trades.
• Travel to customer sites as required.

Job description

Metro Building Services is seeking a skilled BMS Technician to join our team in Bolton, MS. This role is responsible for the installation, retrofit, and ongoing service of building automation systems for our commercial customers. We’re looking for a dependable professional with strong technical expertise and a customer-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with building management systems (BMS), building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or a closely related field.
• Working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and associated control systems.
• Experience troubleshooting building automation systems, including sensors, actuators, controllers, control wiring, and communication networks.
• Familiarity with building automation protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and system documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technicians, project managers, and other trades.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including accessing mechanical rooms, climbing ladders, and working in commercial building environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with building automation platforms such as Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium Niagara, or Schneider Electric.
• Experience with direct digital controls (DDC), system programming, graphics development, startup, and commissioning.
• Technical training or certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, controls, or building automation.
