Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a BMS Engineer to support design, development, and implementation of Building Management System solutions within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The role focuses on facility automation, HVAC control, and critical utility equipment while ensuring GMP compliance.

This is a long-term, open-ended contract with remote work and required travel. Responsibilities include SOO development for HVAC, creating control narratives, supporting commissioning and validation,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Controls Engineering, or Automation Engineering.
• Hands-on with Johnson Controls Metasys, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation and Allen-Bradley control platforms.
• Experience developing control strategies, Sequences of Operation, points lists, and functional specifications.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including AHUs and FCUs.
• Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup activities in regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

Job description

Piper Companies is seeking a BMS Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of Building Management System (BMS) solutions within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The BMS Engineer will play a key role in supporting facility automation, HVAC control systems, and critical utility equipment while ensuring compliance with GMP and regulated manufacturing standards. The BMS Engineer role is a long term, open ended contract and allows you to work remote with travel required.

Responsibilities of the BMS Engineer:

• Support the design and implementation of Building Management System (BMS) control systems within pharmaceutical and GMP manufacturing environments.
• Develop, review, and maintain Sequences of Operation (SOOs) for HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Create and maintain points lists, control narratives, and functional specifications.
• Support commissioning, qualification, startup, and validation activities for BMS-controlled equipment.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Johnson Controls Metasys and Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley systems.
• Provide technical support for Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), HVAC systems, and associated mechanical and utility equipment.
• Support the design, integration, commissioning, and ongoing operation of BMS controls for AHUs and related building automation equipment.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, Validation, and Operations teams to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.

Requirements of the BMS Engineer:

• 5+ years of experience in Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Controls Engineering, or Automation Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Johnson Controls Metasys, including configuration, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation and Allen-Bradley control platforms.
• Experience developing control strategies, Sequences of Operation, points lists, and functional specifications.

Compensation for the BMS Engineer:

• Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 base
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
