Midgley Huber seeks an experienced Controls Technician to join our BAS team in California. You will program, commission, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems for commercial HVAC applications, focusing on Niagara 4 and JACE/Supervisor platforms.

Strong hands-on Niagara 4 programming and BACnet networking experience are required, along with the ability to read schematics and operate independently through startup and commissioning phases.

• 2–5 years of experience programming Building Automation Systems.
• Current Niagara 4 certification strongly preferred; hands-on may be considered.
• Proficiency with Niagara Workbench for station setup and configuration.
• Experience with BACnet networks and IP networking.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and sequences of operation.

Controls Technician – Building AutomationOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join our BAS team. In this role, you will program, integrate, commission, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial HVAC applications. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Niagara 4 (N4) and Niagara Workbench, and holds a current Niagara 4 certification.You will work closely with project managers, engineers, controls technicians, and customers to develop and implement control strategies that maximize system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.DutiesProgram, configure, commission, and troubleshoot BAS for commercial HVAC applications, including AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, central plants, and other HVAC equipment.Develop and support Niagara 4 applications, including JACE and Supervisor stations, graphics, histories/trends, alarms, schedules, point databases, and operator interfaces.Configure and troubleshoot BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and third-party integrations.Review project drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation to develop and modify control logic.Perform system startup, point-to-point verification, functional testing, and commissioning.Troubleshoot programming, controller, communication, and system integration issues.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, controls technicians, customers, and contractors throughout all phases of a project.Maintain accurate programming documentation, controller and station backups, database records, and project files.Requirements2–5 years of experience programming Building Automation Systems.Current Niagara 4 (N4) certification strongly preferred; demonstrated hands-on Niagara 4 programming experience may be considered in lieu of certification.Proficiency with Niagara Workbench, including station setup, drivers, point discovery, histories, alarms, schedules, graphics, and backups.Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, and related equipment.Experience developing and modifying control sequences from written sequences of operation.Working knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and IP networking.Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently through startup and commissioning.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.Preferred Experience & CertificationsCurrent Niagara 4 (N4) certification.Experience engineering, programming, and commissioning Niagara JACE and Supervisor applications.Experience integrating third-party systems and devices into BAS platforms using BACnet.Experience commissioning and optimizing BAS from startup through project completion.Starting hourly pay $50
