Job summary

BayCare is hiring a Basic Machine Operator for the Urgent Care MLK site in Tampa, FL. This full-time role supports patient examinations, imaging services, specimen prep, and front/back-office duties.

Required BLS and Florida BMO certifications; HS diploma with medical assisting experience is preferred. May travel to other sites as needed and extended hours may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; preferred Technical Medical Assistant training.
• BLS certification and Florida Basic Machine Operator (BMO) licensure required or within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred 2 years as Medical Assistant or similar healthcare support experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and x-ray/imaging services.
• Document patient histories and prepare specimens for lab transport.
• Maintain EMR and ensure accurate test orders and result reporting.

• Status: Full Time (non-exempt)
• Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:45am-4pm

The Basic Machine Operator is responsible for the following:

• Assists providers with patient examination, procedures, treatment, and x-ray/imaging services.
• Responsible for patient histories, routine lab procedures and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab.
• Follows up on test orders and reports results to provider and patient, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies.
• Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR).
• Complies with all applicable regulatory agency regulations.
• Supports both front and back-office duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Position may require travel to other sites depending on patient volume and clinic needs.
• Ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Required Certification or Licensure includes BLS Certificate and Florida Basic Machine Operator (BMO).

Required Certification and Licensure:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire and
• Florida Basic Machine Operator (BMO)

Education:

• Required High School or Equivalent;
• Preferred Technical Medical Assistant

Experience:

• Preferred 2 years Medical Assistant
