Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Department of Music seeks a Teaching Assistant Professor specializing in bluegrass and musicianship. Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
• At least three years of university-level teaching experience in both individual lessons and courses.
• Nationally recognized accomplishments as a performer and/or band leader in bluegrass, old-time, or string-band music.

Responsibilities

• Teach three courses (3 credit-hours each) per semester or the equivalent, including lessons and ensembles.
• Teach both music majors and non-majors within the department's bluegrass program and broader liberal arts education.
• Contribute to curriculum and departmental mission; begin responsibilities on July 1, 2027.

Education

Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field

Three years university-level teaching experience in individual lessons and courses

Nationally recognized performer/band leader in bluegrass/old-time/string-band
