Job summary

BISSELL, Inc. is seeking a Plastics Technician II for our Michigan facility. You will operate blow‑molding equipment to manufacture plastic bottles, prepare resins, and monitor quality throughout the shift.

This hands‑on role involves equipment startup/shutdown, basic maintenance, and documentation to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. You will train Plastics Technician I teammates, identify issues early, and implement improvements while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Previous manufacturing, machine operation, plastics, molding, packaging, or similar technical production experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how manufacturing equipment and processes work.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and production issues.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn new equipment and processes.
• Ability to train and support other team members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up, start, operate, monitor, and shut down blow-molding equipment.
• Prepare and mix resin used in the bottle manufacturing process.
• Monitor equipment and production throughout the shift to identify issues before they impact safety, quality, or production.
• Inspect finished bottles and perform quality checks to ensure they meet specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues and make appropriate adjustments to keep production running efficiently.
• Complete minor mold and equipment changeovers and assist with more complex changeovers.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and identify equipment issues requiring additional maintenance support.
• Complete required production, quality, and equipment documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime, scrap, and production issues.
• Train Plastics Technician I team members on equipment operation, safety, quality, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
