Job summary

CKS Packaging is seeking a plastics Blow Molding Process Technician to join our team in Mooresville, NC. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, hand-tool proficiency, and the ability to repair/adjust diverse equipment.

Responsibilities include setting up extrusion blow molding machines, performing mold changes, monitoring performance, troubleshooting, and assisting with preventive maintenance and process optimization. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Electrical systems knowledge/experience required.
• Strong understanding of HDPE processing characteristics.
• Knowledge of extrusion blow molding and one-step molding processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of Bekum or similar machinery and HDPE resin is preferred.
• Experience making adjustments to production equipment processes to change material distribution, weights, heights, and other physical properties/dimensions.
• Knowledge of mold change procedures and steps for line changes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs.

• Perform mold and tooling changeovers on blow molding machines according to production schedules.
• Monitor machine performance, make process adjustments, and perform routine maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, process, and electrical issues on blow molding machines and related equipment.
• Adjust PLC/HMI parameters and identify basic faults with maintenance assistance as needed.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on electrical components.
• Operate machines safely and in accordance with instructions.
• Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Assist with process parameter adjustments for optimal performance.
• Assist with material management including scrap/regrind processing.
• Perform mold changes and assist with tooling for new runs.
• Perform minor maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Set up and start up blow molding machines (extrusion blow molding, preferred but not required)
• Perform mold and tooling changeovers on blow molding machines according to production schedules
• Monitor machine performance, make process adjustments, and perform routine maintenance
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, process, and electrical issues on blow molding machines, conveyors, and related auxiliary equipment.
• Adjust PLC/HMI parameters and identify basic faults in control systems (with assistance from maintenance when needed).
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on electrical components (sensors, heaters, switches, basic wiring).
• Operate machines and production equipment safely and in accordance with instructions.
• Troubleshoot machine, mold, and process-related issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Adjust and fine-tune process parameters including preform heating, blowing pressure, and mold cooling for optimal performance
• Assist with material management including the processing of scrap and regrind produced
• Perform mold changes and assist with tooling installations and adjustments for new product runs.
• Perform minor maintenance functions as needed on machines and auxiliary equipment
