Job summary

The American Red Cross in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Distribution Technician to receive, process, pack and ship blood products for hospital orders. You will triage orders by urgency and ensure safe transport with temperature-controlled packaging.

You will interact with hospital clients, volunteers and vendors, maintain precise product records, and contribute to inventory control. The role may involve delivering to hospitals as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.
• Position may require a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, pack and ship blood products/samples for hospital orders.
• Triage orders based on date and time needed; ensure safe transport with correct temperature regulation.
• Communicate with hospital clients, volunteers and vendors; maintain product records.
• May make hospital deliveries as assigned.
