Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, Inc. in Mobile, AL is seeking Components Lab Technicians to safely handle and process blood components for transfusion in a highly regulated environment.

You will prepare products, perform the lab audit, filter to leuko-reduced units, and label and dispose of products as required, with attention to accuracy.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work evenings, rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work evenings, rotating weekends and holidays.
• Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood and blood products.
• Perform the lab audit process including quarantine, release and disposal based on disease testing results.
• Filter blood to provide leuko-reduced products.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department.
• Data processing and input.
• Label all available apheresis products and quarantine/discard as necessary.
