Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Blood Bank Technologist to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and result reporting. The role involves quality control, instrument maintenance, and accurate documentation within our Blood Bank systems.

Responsibilities include pre-transfusion testing (ABO/Rh, antibody screening, crossmatch), checking and reconciling blood products, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• NYSDOH licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or related science.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience (internship acceptable).
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing and testing.
• Conducts quality control, instrument maintenance, function checks and calibration.
• Accurately reviews and accession patient samples and test results in the system.
• Performs pre-transfusion testing such as ABO/Rh, antibody screening, crossmatch, DAT.
• Maintains inventory of blood products and ensures proper storage and FIFO adherence.
• Documents records and reports issues, deviations, and adverse events as required.
