Job summary

NYU Langone Health invites applications for a Blood Bank Technologist. You will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing, testing, result reporting, quality control, and instrument maintenance.

You will manage blood product inventory, perform pre-transfusion testing, document results in HCLL/Epic, and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure patient safety and compliance with AABB standards.

Qualifications

• NYSDOH licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or related science.
• One year of clinical lab experience (internship acceptable).
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of BBQAPSA and Quality System Essentials per AABB standards.
• Performs quality control, instrument maintenance, checks, calibration, and issue reporting.
• Resolve internal/external complaints; explain NYULH policies and BB SOPs.
• Inventory management: maintain blood product inventory; reconcile shipments; FIFO as SOP.
• Perform pre-transfusion testing (ABO/Rh, antibody screening, crossmatch) and data entry.
• Enter patient and donor test results; maintain QA records; follow regulatory requirements.
• Detect and report transfusion complications; complete investigation before review.
