RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Blood Bank Technologist to join the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Blood Bank team. The role focuses on accurate and timely testing, operating complex instruments, and collaborating with physicians and nurses to support patient care.

The position is hourly with an evening shift in Newark, NJ, offering growth opportunities in a collaborative, quality-driven lab environment.

Competenze

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Knowledge of specialized principles and techniques in Blood Banking obtained through formal training and experience.
2 years of Blood Banking experience.
ASCP Certification required or preferred.

Mansioni

Perform routine, complex, and specialized testing in areas including blood bank and related departments.
Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
Ensure quality control, QA, and proficiency testing per regulatory standards.
Review specimen integrity and determine testing acceptability.
Follow CLIA, CAP, and other applicable standards in the lab.
Enter, review, verify, and report results in LIS accurately.
Maintain documentation of testing, instrument maintenance, and corrective actions.
Communicate critical values promptly to the healthcare team.
Support with troubleshooting instrument issues and service requests.
Maintain inventory of supplies to support uninterrupted operations.
