Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Blood Bank Technologist for the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Blood Bank. The role supports accurate, timely laboratory testing and adherence to quality and regulatory standards, with opportunities for growth within a collaborative team.

You will operate sophisticated instruments, review results, and communicate findings to the clinical team, while ensuring specimen integrity and safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of Blood Banking principles and techniques through formal training and experience.
• 2 years' hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• ASCP Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, complex, and specialized laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, coagulation, and urinalysis.
• Analyze, verify, and report accurate test results following policies and procedures.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments for optimal performance.
• Perform quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing to regulatory standards.
• Review specimen integrity and resolve testing issues.
• Follow CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements; ensure safety protocols.
