Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a Blood Bank Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations of the blood bank across all shifts. You will coordinate inventory, review quality control values, and manage training and competencies for staff while ensuring CAP/CLIA/TJC accreditation standards are met.

The role also involves coaching and evaluating MLT/MLS staff, troubleshooting instruments, and maintaining department policies and procedures to deliver safe, accurate patient results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in science or health related field, with lab internship.
• ASCP Certification or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of blood bank experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating people in testing and troubleshooting instruments.
• One to three years’ experience overseeing staff (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates day-to-day activities in the department to ensure quality test results delivered to providers.
• Coordinates the day-to-day department testing within the hospital.
• Ensures staff follow proper procedures to maintain patient safety.
• Consults with nursing to investigate and follow up on patient safety issues.
• Oversees department training to deliver the best possible training to operators.
• Assures an adequate inventory of all reagents, quality control, and supplies.
• Collaborates with the Lab Manager to develop, write, revise and implement departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
