Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking an MLS Technical Specialist Blood Bank for day shift. This role participates in all department responsibilities for comprehensive laboratory testing and oversees the lab in the absence of the manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree required; high school graduate may qualify per CLIA high complexity testing.
• AMT MLS certification within 180 days of hire.
• ASCP MLT certification within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner according to laboratory policy.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of all supplies and reagents as assigned.
• Schedules and coordinates departmental staffing as assigned; participates in financial planning with supervisor.
• Oversees calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control for instrument issues and documentation.
