Job summary

Liberty Hospital is seeking a MLS Technical Specialist Blood Bank to participate in comprehensive laboratory testing and ensure accurate, timely results. This role also serves as the technical expert and provides coverage in the absence of management.

Responsibilities include analysis of specimens, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, staff mentoring, instrument maintenance, and documentation. Requires MLS/AMT and MLT/ASCP certifications or eligibility, and a BS with CLIA high-complexity

Qualifications

BS in a science discipline and CLIA high complexity testing eligibility.
MLS AMT and MLT ASCP certifications or eligibility within 180 days.

Responsibilities

Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results promptly.
Oversees departmental staffing, inventory and scheduling; contributes to financial planning.
Coordinates quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the department.
Ensures regulatory compliance and readiness of the laboratory.
Mentors students, employees and residents; documents continuing education.
Oversees instrument calibration, maintenance and QC and documents results.
Reviews results in context of patient condition and flags critical values.
