Job summary

Penn Medicine in Plainsboro Township, NJ is seeking a Laboratory Professional to perform complex study procedures in the clinical section, interpreting test results and resolving instrument and serologic issues. The role requires independent judgment and precision in data handling within regulatory guidelines.

The position includes a sign-on bonus up to $10K and a schedule of evenings 3 pm–11:30 pm, Mon–Fri with every other weekend/holiday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological or laboratory science required.
• Experience in microbiology, hematology or chemistry laboratory preferred.
• ASCP certification or eligibility within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes testing irregularities, identifies cause, and resolves problems.
• Adheres to explicit standard operating procedures.
• Interprets complex test results and resolves instrument and/or serologic problems.
• Maintains records to ensure accuracy.
• Provides instruction and training to staff and students.
• Assists supervisor in procedures and equipment decisions.
• Participates in QA and proficiency testing.
• Maintains proficiency with LIS.
• Complies with safety policies and uses protective equipment.
• Communicates results and technical information to interdisciplinary staff.
