Job summary

The CLS will use manual, semi-automated and automated techniques, maintain calibration and quality control, and participate in QA and education programs.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Training for California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or California Specialty (Limited) license is required.
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency with basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Ability to work with physicians, staff and professionals in multiple settings.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual, semi-automated and automated analyses in Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological and Blood Bank areas with high accuracy.
• Recognizes abnormal or critical results and acts per lab policy.
• Communicates results clearly to clinical staff and maintains documentation.
• Ensures results meet defined turnaround time.
• Maintains safety and infection control guidelines and uses PPE as required.
• Participates in quality assurance and continuing education.
• Monitors supplies and assists in inventory management.
• Trains personnel and supports emergencies and staffing needs.
