Job Summary

Control or operate machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line. May be expected to handle heavy machinery. IFF is seeking a Blending Packaging Technician to join our team in New Century, KS! As the Blending Packaging Technician, your primary responsibilities include the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and general maintenance of all automated, semi-automated and manually operated packaging equipment. The incumbent will timely complete all required production documentation, maintaining accuracy with raw material inventory and finish goods produced. They will also provide quality control and quality assurance with proper samples and product quality information. The incumbent will need to pay strict attention to good manufacturing practices and plant safety and sanitation policies. Lastly, they will screen all packaging raw materials to ensure they meet the specification assigned.

Essential Functions
  1. Acquire and apply job knowledge and demonstrate those skills and abilities required to effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all packaging equipment.
  2. To always meet customer orders and demands by operating the system according to authorized written procedures and coordinating tasks with other internal departments.
  3. Help to promote an employee driven environment.
  4. Able to distinguish product names, resource numbers, lot numbers, staging and warehouse locations.
  5. Verify batch weights and quantities through mathematical calculations.
  6. Access D-train and update files regularly.
  7. Acquire the ability and demonstrate those computer skills necessary to identify the production requirements and operate the packaging lines to meet those requirements.
  8. Possess the communication skills required to work effectively with other packaging technicians and the blender operator.
  9. Proper communication to Production Management, both written and verbal.
  10. Demonstrate the organizational skills and the incentive to work independently to perform job functions and successfully meet the production goals at the level of the quality required.
  11. Comply with all safety and sanitation policies or procedures.
  12. Operate the packaging lines under the good manufacturing practice guidelines that are established by the company.
  13. Communicate any food safety or personal safety hazards to Production Management immediately upon identification of the hazards.
  14. Acquire and demonstrate the ability to identify and inspect all required packaging materials and insure that these materials meet the company’s standards.
  15. Operate the production lines with all food safety controls in place and accept responsibility for the food safety of all finished product produced during your period of operation.
  16. Operate the production lines to maintain proper product weight requirements for the packaging container.
  17. Ability to complete all written documentation with the timely and accurate submittal to the Supervisor.
  18. Ability to identify nonconforming material, remelt, residue or waste, and apply the skill to properly label and store these materials.
  19. Demonstrate the ability to consume remelt material into the proper remelt system and account for the consumption.
  20. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  21. Compliance with applicable company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required.
  22. Compliance with all Company policies is required.
  23. Other functions as required (non-essential functions).
  24. Ensure adherence to all management systems including, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and Food Safety, with an understanding of Danisco's Quality and Environmental Policies and procedures. Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position’s jurisdiction.
Required Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma/GED
  2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  3. Ability to work independently and in accordance with the company safety and sanitation standards
  4. Ability to read and verbalize information in company technical manual and production flow charts
  5. Able to maintain a good attendance record while also showing up ontime consistently
  6. Willing and able to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
  7. Willing and able to lift up to 55lbs (25kg)
  8. Willing and able to work the evening shift (3:45pm to 2:45am), Monday - Friday
  9. Willing and able to work overtime as required undefined
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Production line or manufacturing experience
  2. Previous food plant experience
  3. Exposure to automated packaging equipment
  4. Mechanical aptitude
  5. Fork lift experience
