Job summary

Chestnut Labs is seeking a Blend Operator to ensure GMP compliance and uphold regulatory requirements for food safety and sanitation. You will weigh ingredients, prepare batches, and perform QA checks in the mix room, using pH meters and refractometers to keep product within specifications.

Role involves routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and following established procedures. Must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of manufacturing experience; English reading/writing is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• Basic math skills for rate, ratio and percentage calculations.
• Ability to interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Weighs each ingredient and adds to the batch.
• Ensures the product is ready to dry and passes QA checks in the mix room.
• Operates pH meter, refractometer, and related tools to keep product within specs.
• Performs routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
• Follows GMPs, safety meetings, and training requirements.
• Covers vacations and overtime as needed; assists other departments as needed.

The Blend Operator is responsible for following all DFA Ingredient Solutions GMP’s and working in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, and quality and sanitation requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Weighs each ingredient and add to the batch
• Ensures the product is ready to dry
• Carries out all QA checks in the mix room
• Operates the pH meter, refractometer, etc. to keep product within specifications
• Performs necessary routine cleaning and preventive maintenance
• Follows established plant operating and cleaning procedures
• Follows Good Manufacturing Practices
• Assists with safety analysis and on the job training of new employees
• Attends educational training seminars as needed (i.e. loss control)
• Attends and participates in safety meetings
• Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and accidents immediately to supervisor
• Assists in accident investigations
• Covers vacations and overtime as needed or required
• Assists with duties in other departments as needed

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Basic computer skills
• Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and job safety analysis
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
• Performs work independently, as required
• Knowledge with machines, tools, equipment, and lockout tagout
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
