Job summary

Danville Area Community College is seeking Building Services Attendants to perform general cleaning and housekeeping across campus facilities. Staff operate vacuum cleaners, buffers, and other equipment to keep restrooms, offices, and classrooms clean and safe.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to follow instructions, lift items, and climb stairs. Employment is offered as full-time or part-time with duties including event setup and inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

• Capable of walking, climbing stairs, lifting, and using cleaners safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and housekeeping to keep buildings, rooms, and restrooms clean and sanitary.
• Use hand tools and power equipment to maintain floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
• Replace light bulbs and replenish restroom supplies as needed.
• Wash windows/doors and dispose of trash appropriately.
• Set up and move furniture for events and assist with room set-ups.

Job description

The Incumbent is responsible for general cleaning and housekeeping using a variety of equipment and supplies. Each of the full-time Building Services Attendants has a defined area for which he/she has responsibility.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Certificate. Essential job requirements include the ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions, walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, stooping, squatting, standing, climbing ladders, reaching, and lifting. Ability to learn cleaning procedures and usage of cleaning chemicals and equipment

• Perform general cleaning and housekeeping tasks in order to ensure buildings, rooms, and restrooms are clean, sanitary, and free of debris and dust.


• Use hand tools such as brooms, mops, squeegees, buffers, polishers, and vacuum cleaners to ensure the proper cleaning and maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture. Must be able to operate power equipment on floor surfaces if required.


• Replace light bulbs in light fixtures as needed and replenish tissues and other restroom supplies.


• Wash windows and/or doors, pick up and dispose properly of trash and litter in and around the buildings and grounds.


• Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies and tools, and report need for additional supplies and tools. Use supplies and tools correctly.


• Set up and move furniture and equipment as requested. Assist BSA Set-up Tech with set-ups for special programs and activities as needed.


• Clean areas assigned after set-ups for special events are completed.


• Distribute and inventory building services supplies from central storage.


• Support building security by checking for unlocked doors, windows, and unauthorized personnel.


• Shovel snow from entrances, steps, porches, and handicapped ramps.


• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
