Job description

Job Title: Blaster – 1st Shift

The 1st Shift Blaster performs a variety of enclosed blasting operations to clean and prepare metal and other surfaces for subsequent manufacturing processes. Working under direct supervision, this role uses different blasting media, such as aluminum oxide, glass bead, and plastic media, to ensure parts are properly cleaned, damage-free, and configured correctly. The position also involves maintaining a clean, organized work area and following all safety rules in a busy fabrication shop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform enclosed blasting operations using various blasting media, including aluminum oxide, glass bead, and plastic media, to clean and prepare surfaces for future processes.

  • Ensure all parts meet cleanliness standards by inspecting surfaces for contaminants, residues, and imperfections after blasting.

  • Validate that blasted parts are damage free, checking for dents, warping, or other defects caused during processing.

  • Confirm part configurations are correct, ensuring components are properly oriented, handled, and processed according to work instructions.

  • Follow detailed instructions and work under direct supervision to complete assigned blasting tasks accurately and on time.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by regularly cleaning equipment, removing debris, and keeping tools and materials in their designated locations.

  • Adhere to all organizational safety rules, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with safety procedures.

  • Handle and move parts and materials throughout the facility, including occasional moderate lifting of items weighing from 5 lbs to 75 lbs.

  • Work effectively in a non-climate-controlled metal fabrication shop, staying attentive to environmental conditions such as noise, dust, fumes, and temperature changes.

  • Collaborate with other shop personnel to support production flow, communicate issues with parts or equipment, and help maintain overall shop efficiency.

Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1–2 years of shop experience, preferably in blasting or a related general shop environment.

  • Hands‑on experience with blasting processes or similar general labor in a fabrication or manufacturing shop.

  • Excellent math skills to read measurements, verify dimensions, and ensure accurate processing of parts.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude to understand and operate blasting equipment and related shop tools.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under direct supervision.

  • Capability to lift and move parts and materials weighing from 5 lbs to 75 lbs as needed.

  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, odors, and temperature variations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a metal fabrication or general shop environment.

  • Familiarity with different blasting media such as aluminum oxide, glass bead, and plastic media.

  • Ability to maintain an organized work area and follow established shop procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting parts for cleanliness and damage.

  • Reliable work habits and punctuality for a consistent 1st shift schedule.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled metal fabrication shop with regular exposure to noise, dust, fumes, odors, and temperature variations. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including two 10‑minute breaks and a 30‑minute lunch. You will be required to move about the facility frequently and occasionally lift parts and materials ranging from 5 lbs to 75 lbs. The environment is an active manufacturing setting where you must be comfortable working around heavy chemicals, production equipment, and typical shop elements. The position requires a physical examination and adherence to safety and dress requirements, including steel‑toed shoes, hearing protection (provided), and safety glasses (provided).

This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
