Job summary

Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC is seeking a part-time assistant to support a K3–K5 classroom. The position runs year‑round for about 25 hours per week, typically 12pm–5pm, onsite. The assistant helps implement curricula, ensures safety, and supports children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.

A high school diploma is required; associate/bachelor in childcare preferred. Must lift up to 50 lbs and maintain a Christ-centered approach.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Work as an assistant to the full time staff member in a K3-K5 classroom. The position works year-round and approximately 25 hours a week. These hours would be mostly afternoon hours - approximately 12pm-5pm.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in implementation of daily curriculum that provides social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual experiences for the children in the classroom
• Follow proper safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
• Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, and techniques

Support the mission of BJA

• Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
• Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in childcare or education preferred
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices of young children
• Ability to provide guidance for young children
• Ability to work with children and move quickly, assist and supervise young children, lift children, equipment, and supplies, and hear and see at a distance
• Exhibit patience, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm, and stamina
• Able to constantly lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Able to constantly push/pull up to 25 lbs.
• Able to stand and walk constantly

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

• 15 clock hours of training annually pertaining to growth and development, curriculum, health and safety and professional development
• Bloodborne Pathogens and Right to Know training as required by law
• Successful completion of background checks, physical, and PPD (TB skin test)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• At least 18 years of age
• Consistently model Christlike attitude and demeanor with staff, children and parents
