Joe Coffee is seeking Baristas in Training (BITs) on a part-time basis in Lower Westside, New York, NY. You will learn specialty coffee while delivering warm, thoughtful service and supporting a collaborative team.

Ideal candidates are eager to learn, reliable, and passionate about hospitality. This entry-level role offers hands-on training, growth toward full barista certification, and tips in addition to hourly pay.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver welcoming, inclusive, and attentive customer service that reflects Joe Coffee’s hospitality standards
  • Accurately operate the POS system, including order entry, cash handling, and payment processing
  • Prepare non-espresso beverages and food items according to company recipes and quality standards (drip coffee, cold brew, tea, matcha, seasonal drinks, etc.)
  • Maintain cafe cleanliness, organization, and food safety by following established cleaning and sanitation standards
  • Actively participate in training, coaching, and feedback to build skills and prepare for full barista certification

The ideal candidate is eager to learn about coffee, motivated to develop their skills, and passionate about delivering warm, thoughtful customer service. Strong candidates are reliable, friendly, fast-paced, and thrive as part of a collaborative team environment.

Compensation $17 per hour + tips

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver welcoming, inclusive, and attentive customer service that reflects Joe Coffee’s hospitality standards
  • Accurately operate the POS system, including order entry, cash handling, and payment processing
