Job summary

Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA is seeking a Maternity Registered Nurse to deliver patient care through the nursing process, and to lead and educate staff within the Birthing Center. You will document assessments, plan care, and collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires MA RN licensure, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, CPI training, and OB/neonatal certifications. Expect 24 hours weekly with rotating evenings/nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Massachusetts RN license required.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 6 months.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention) within 3 months of new position and renewed annually.
• Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology exam.
• Attendance at Fetal Monitor Course every 2 years.
• Current American Academy of Pediatric Neonatal Resuscitation certification within 6 months.
• Must read, write and communicate in English.
• Recent OB experience within 2 years.
• Copy of highest level diploma/transcript for those performing moderate complexity testing.
• Baby-Friendly competencies within 1 year of position.
• Scrub training for cesarean sections within 1 year of position.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Administers and monitors patient responses to all medications.
• Directs and guides patient care, teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
• Maintains and delivers the highest quality customer service standards.
• Maintains accurate patient records and documents assessment data and care plans.
• Assists in care coordination and communication with allied providers.
• Participates in at least four-unit staff meetings per year and mandatory educational programs.
• Ensures safety policies regarding blood/body fluids are followed.
