Job summary

Guidehouse in Birmingham, AL (Women and Children) seeks a Birth Registrar to support birth data collection and certificate processing. Under limited supervision, you will perform data abstraction, interview parents, and submit birth and fetal death certificates to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics.

Responsibilities include maintaining the birth registry and perinatal database, ensuring timely submissions within 5 days, and collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to keep workflow

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years of relevant experience in lieu of the education.
• 0-2+ years of experience in a clinical/hospital setting (preferably working within medical records).
• Prior computer and data entry work experience.
• State of Alabama Notary Public is required for this role, but not to interview.
• If you are selected for this role but do not have the notary public credential required, you must obtain it within 30 days for the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain birth data collection through data collection, abstraction, and parent interviews.
• Submit birth and fetal death certificates to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics within 5 days.
• Maintain birth registry and perinatal database; compile statistical reports.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure timely workflow.
• Protect confidential information and adhere to privacy requirements.
• Stand and walk for extended periods to assist patients and navigate clinical areas.
