Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Statistics Registrar at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital to coordinate the collection, documentation, and reporting of vital statistics for births, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations.

You will assist in obtaining neonatal Social Security numbers, distribute immunization materials, and support internal hospital departments with data delivery and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Notary Public qualifications preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the collection, documentation and reporting of information necessary to ensure the preparation of official birth certificates by local governmental Departments of Vital Statistics.
  • Assist patients in completing information required for neonatal social security numbers.
  • Coordinate distribution of immunization informational materials to patients and forward documents to the CT State Dept of Health Services.
  • Coordinate and participate in the preparation of data for LMH departments (Medical Records, PFAS, Vital Records, Obs-Gyn-Pediatric Nursing).

Overview

Coordinates all Vital Statistics Office operations associated with the collection, recording, documentation, and reporting of vital statistics information for all births occurring at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital (LMH). Ensures full compliance with all regulations established by the CT State Department of Health Services, as well as town's and city's Departments of Vital Records. Coordinates all Vital Statistics Office operations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal requirements, and internal LMH departmental informational requirements. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at LMH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff and support department personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the collection, documentation and reporting of information necessary to ensure the preparation of official birth certificates by local governmental Departments of Vital Statistics, and the reporting of vital statistics information to the CT State Department of Health Services.
    • Establishes and maintains a collection area for completed Birth Certificates. On a daily basis, collects all signed Birth Certificate forms, and the delivery log from the Labor and Delivery Unit.
  • Coordinates the collection, documentation and reporting of information necessary to ensure the acquisition of social security numbers for neonates from the Social Security Department.
    • Assists patients in completing all information required for the acquisition of neonatal social security numbers.
  • Coordinates the collection, documentation and reporting of information necessary to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations set forth by the Department of Health Service's Immunization section, and Office of Legitimations. Coordinates compliance with guidelines and regulations set forth by the State Dept. of Children and Family Services, State Department of Income Maintenance, State Department of Social Services, Catholic Family Services, and all adoption agencies.
    • Coordinates and participates in the distribution of immunization informational materials to patients. Forwards all documents, completed by patients, to the CT State Dept of Health Services, Immunization Section.
  • Coordinates the collection, documentation and reporting of information needed to meet the requirements of all internal LMH Departments.
    • Coordinates and participates in the preparation of data regarding delivered patients which are forwarded to the LMH departments of Medical Records, PFAS, Vital Records, and the Department of Obs-Gyn-Pediatric Nursing.
Qualifications

High School diploma required. Associate degree preferred. Possesses and maintains Notary Public qualifications preferred. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

Experience

Two (2) to three (3) years' experience as a Statistics Registrar within hospital setting. Experience in coordinating and directing Vital Statistic Office staff preferred.

Special Skills

Able to coordinate staff in the collection, analysis and reporting of statistical data. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of federal, state and local government regulations pertaining to the reporting of generated vital statistical information. Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of computer systems including Word Processing, Excel, Database systems and State Dept. of Health Services software.
