Job summary

NYC Affriative Psychotherapy is a remote-only practice based in Manhattan seeking full-time LMSW therapists to earn clinical hours and grow into trauma-informed clinicians. You will build a full caseload of up to 29 adults (18+), under supervision, delivering weekly psychotherapy and joining a dedicated team committed to social justice and affordable, long-term care.

Schedule is Monday–Wednesday 12pm–8pm and Thursday–Friday 10am–6pm.

Qualifications

• Licensed LMSW in NY State seeking to earn clinical hours under supervision.
• Experience providing individual psychotherapy to adults.
• Committed to working with and supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
• Looking for full-time work and delivering long-term clinical work.
• Experienced working with transgender and non-binary folx.
• Understanding of anti-racist work and identity intersections.
• Strong administrative skills: progress notes, scheduling, and billing.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychotherapy sessions to a weekly caseload of up to 29 patients.
• Maintain an accurate appointment calendar.
• Keep contemporaneous progress notes and chart notes for all patients.
• Diagnose clients using the DSM-5.
• Charge clients daily.
• Attend weekly individual supervision; group supervision optional.
• Respond to emails from clients, supervisors, and administrative staff.
• Attend in-house trainings for NYS continuing education.

Welcome to NYC Affriative Psychotherapy!

We are a remote-only practice based in Manhattan, looking for full-time LMSW therapists to earn their clinical hours and grow into well-rounded, trauma-informed clinicians.

For the past eight years, our remote group psychotherapy practice has provided individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to adults ages 18 and up in NY and NJ. By offering a sliding scale and participating in several insurance networks, we demonstrate our commitment to providing quality, long-term psychotherapy to our patients and the work of social justice. At NYCAP we believe that change is possible and that we as human beings grow in relationships where an empathic and attuned other bears witness to our struggles. We recognize the innate strengths that continue to allow people to function while enduring difficult life circumstances. We know the courage it takes to embark upon this healing process, and we are looking for a dedicated social worker who understands this to join our team.

At NYC Affriative you will build a full caseload of up to 29 patients providing weekly psychotherapy to adults 18+. You'll work under the supervision of experienced LCSWs who are a part of the same communities we serve. And you'll be a part of a dedicated group of therapists who believe in our mission to provide affordable, long-term care to our patients.

The schedule for this position is Monday - Wednesday 12pm-8pm, Thursday - Friday 10am - 6pm.

The Staff Therapist position is a fee-for-service, W2 position paid at $45-$52 per session. The fee-for-service rate includes blocked-off time for administrative work, lunches, and provided supervision. After reaching a full caseload of 29 patients, Staff Therapists may be eligible for a full-time salaried offer that includes employer sponsored medical, dental and vision insurance, 401k with match, PTO and other benefits.

• A licensed LMSW in NY State looking to earn their clinical hours under supervision
• Experience providing individual psychotherapy to adults
• Committed to working with and supporting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
• Looking for full-time work and interested in delivering long-term clinical work and building professional relationships
• Experienced working with transgender and non-binary folx
• Understanding of the intersectionality of identities and the importance of anti-racist work
• Demonstrating strong administrative skills in writing progress notes, maintaining an accurate appointment calendar, and discussing and billing patients for services
• Willing to learn from clinical supervisors, open to feedback, and work on the growing edge of their clinical skills

Position responsibilities include:

• Provide psychotherapy sessions to a weekly caseload of up to 29 patients

• Attend weekly individual supervision, with the opportunity to join group supervision
• Being responsive to emails from clients, supervisors, and administrative staff
• Optional attendance at in-house trainings that offer continuing education by New York State for professional development
