Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Computational Sciences to lead the Biotherapeutics Portfolio Group Lead. The role drives computational strategy across multiple biologics programs, guiding antibody discovery, design and experimental decision‑making through binder discovery to candidate nomination.

The candidate will mentor computational scientists, align portfolio needs with analytics, and deliver decision‑ready insights to project teams and governance forums

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of academic/industry experience
• Master’s with 10+ years, OR PhD with 8+ years
• 4+ years of leadership experience
• Demonstrated ability to influence project decisions through rigorous analysis
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing scientists

Responsibilities

• Lead a computational sciences portfolio team, setting priorities across multiple biologics programs in BMS’ pre‑clinical pipeline.
• Apply bioinformatics, machine learning, and AI‑enabled design approaches to improve antibody selection, design, optimization, characterization, and experimental decision‑making.
• Define when computational predictions are reliable enough to act on, when they should be qualified, and when additional experimental evidence is needed.
• Partner with project teams to translate scientific questions into computational strategies and clear recommendations from binder discovery through candidate nomination.
• Communicate hypotheses, methods, results, visualizations, and recommendations in decision‑ready formats tailored to project teams, governance forums, and scientific partners.
• Coach, mentor, and develop computational scientists while fostering scientific rigor, urgency, accountability, collaboration, and impact.
