Job summary

Flagship Pioneering in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Origination Associate to drive the creation of new ventures at the intersection of biology and technology. You will ideate, research and refine venture hypotheses, develop the scientific roadmap and business case, and co-lead early-stage company origination.

You’ll recruit scientific partners, establish IP, build the early team, and shape culture while collaborating across Flagship’s ecosystem to accelerate company formation and growth.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in a scientific field, especially biology, bioengineering, chemistry.
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly grasp new scientific areas and engage thought leaders.

Responsibilities

• Explore white spaces and identify frontier opportunities in biology and tech.
• Hypothesize and stress-test venture ideas with rapid experiments.
• Design venture blueprints including technical thesis and go-to-market concepts.
• Contribute to conceiving and launching new high-potential ventures.
