Debut Biotech, Inc. is seeking a Technology Scout Intern to join the team remotely for 10–20 hours per week. You will read primary literature and patent literature, pressure test claims, and deliver a clear call on whether a technology is real, differentiated, and worth Debut's time and capital.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a PhD program in biochemistry, biology, or molecular biology.
Ability to read patent literature and extract major claims, including claim structure and scope.
Strong command of primary literature and ability to judge if experiments support conclusions.
Writers concise conclusions first, with evidence second.

Responsibilities

Run fast technical diligence on themes and concepts relevant to Debut's programs; deliver recommendations in days.
Read patents and published applications; identify independent claims and define protection scope.
Differentiate defensible scientific claims from unsupported ones; clearly flag when data do not hold up.
Write one-page briefs: technology overview, novelty, protection, and recommendations.
Maintain a tracker of technologies, companies, and IP across assigned areas.
Monitor competitor publications, patent filings, and funding activity.
Prepare technical background for external meetings and brief the CEO.
