Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property team in California, with opportunities in Orange County or other CA offices. The role supports development, protection, and strategic management of IP portfolios for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients.

You will prepare and prosecute US and international patent applications, draft responses to USPTO actions, and collaborate with inventors and foreign counsel to advance clients' IP strategies.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
• Minimum of five years of patent prosecution experience in the therapeutics space.
• Experience with patent portfolio management and client counseling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• Draft responses to USPTO office actions.
• Conduct patentability, prior art, freedom-to-operate, and patent landscape analyses.
• Support strategic portfolio management.
• Collaborate with clients and inventors to develop IP strategies.
• Coordinate with foreign counsel on international prosecution matters.
