Job summary

Shennon Biotechnologies seeks an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day biotech lab operations, facilities, procurement, and safety programs in a fast-paced startup. You will coordinate equipment maintenance, vendor relations, and recruiting support while ensuring an organized, compliant, and well-supported working environment on-site in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field; master's a plus.
• 2+ years of work experience in operations, laboratory or facilities management in biotech or life sciences.
• Experience in startup environments is a plus.
• Experience in laboratory environments as a lab technician or research associate.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, supplies, inventory management, procurement, and vendor coordination.
• Understanding of laboratory safety practices and hazardous waste management.
• Experience coordinating facilities, maintenance schedules, or service providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day biotech laboratory operations and ensure equipment, supplies and infrastructure are maintained.
• Coordinate equipment servicing, calibration, preventive maintenance, and service contracts.
• Coordinate laboratory safety programs, training, waste disposal, safety docs, permits and regulatory reporting.
• Manage purchasing of lab supplies, equipment and office resources; maintain inventory systems.
• Maintain vendor accounts, purchase orders, quotations, and support invoice reconciliation and inventory reporting with accounting.
• Coordinate facilities maintenance, building access, and office logistics.
• Support hiring through job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, and onsite logistics.
• Maintain operational records, inventories, and shared systems; ensure documentation is organized.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and develop practical systems.
