Elsevier's Cell Press is launching a field-shaping Biotechnology journal and seeks an Editor-in-Chief to launch and lead it. The role will sit alongside top journals, serving global researchers with a high-impact vision and strong understanding of international authors, readers, and reviewers.

This is a full-time editorial position with rolling applications and flexibility in location, including proximity to our offices in Boston, London, Amsterdam, Munich, or Beijing/Shenzhen.

Qualifications

• Proven biotechnology research expertise across the field.
• Broad international network of researchers and collaborators.
• Ability to think conceptually about complex scientific trends.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Define aims, scope, and formats for the journal to reach a broad audience.
• Attract world-leading article submissions through an extensive network.
• Travel to engage with the research community and attend conferences.
• Recruit and manage the editorial team and oversee manuscript evaluation for quality and impact.
• Develop partnerships with editorial teams and internal Cell Press groups to guide publishing strategy.
