Job summary

NWRPros is seeking a Director of Intellectual Property to lead global patent strategy for biotech programs. The role requires deep biotech/pharma IP experience and will counsel senior management, coordinate outside counsel, and drive competitive intelligence and due diligence in business transactions.

The position is based in Seattle, WA (hybrid) with optional Vancouver, BC, reporting to the Executive Vice President, Research and Development; travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in life sciences; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years in intellectual property/patent law, with 5+ years in biotech/pharma.
• Expertise in US and foreign patent prosecution and portfolio management.
• Experience supporting BD and Legal reviewing partner agreements.
• Strong communication, planning and organizational skills; able to travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the global patent strategy and portfolio.
• Coordinate outside IP counsel and manage patent filings worldwide.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and monitor IP landscape.
• Support business development and negotiations on IP terms.
• Oversee governance, budget, and IP policy trainings.
• Maintain trademark portfolio and IP risk management.
